Biographical Statement
The DBTAC: Great Lakes ADA Center is one of ten national Centers established in 1991 after the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act. As of 2001, the Centered created an Accessible Technology Initiative to provide assistance, education, training, referrals, and materials to business, government and schools. As a result of these efforts the Center's expertise is sought after by public and private entities including some of the federal agencies such as Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and U.S. Dept. of Justice (DOJ).
Janet Peters is currently the Project Coordinator on Education and Assistive Technology with Great Lakes. She has extensive background and knowledge in the area of assistive technology and accessibility issues with information technology and worked in the field for over 14 years. She has her certification in assistive technology from California State University - Northridge and an academic background in computer science and organizational communication.
